Re: Support Tobacco Treaty

Dear Dr. Steiger:
I am writing to ask you and the U.S. government to support
the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which is scheduled to go before
the World Health Assembly later this month. I urge you to oppose any attempt to
reopen negotiations on the treaty or to weaken its provisions.
As a socially responsible investor I have made an active
decision not to support or profit from the tobacco industry, as it manufactures
products that have proven to be harmful and that carry far too many risks and
liabilities. Similarly, as a U.S. citizen and a member of the global community
I believe it would be equally irresponsible to support an industry that carries
such risks.
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to hearing how
you will address this important issue.
Yours Sincerely,
