In a continued effort to support and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable economy, this morning, Domini celebrated International Women’s Day by taking part in the ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ ceremony hosted by Bats Global Markets.
The United Nations first recognized March 8 as International Women’s Day in 1975 to honor the women’s rights movement and to affirm the principle of gender equality. More than 40 years later, there is still significant progress to be made. To celebrate and help raise awareness for gender equality in companies, Bats was one of more than 40 stock exchanges to host a bell ringing ceremony this year. These events—which are a collaboration of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative, UN Women, IFC, Women in ETFs and World Federation of Exchanges—underscore the key role that stock exchanges play in setting the bar for sustainability and diversity standards, and fostering more equitable markets.
As a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, Domini will continue to promote women’s empowerment and diversity in the workplace.
