Badi Foster, a founding Trustee of the Domini Impact Equity Fund, passed away on January 31, 2019. We are grateful for his life of service to us and to others. Badi was born in Chicago but grew up largely in Africa. His lifelong fascination with the continent led him to a Fulbright scholarship for the study of the impact of urbanization on Africa.
During the period Badi served on our Board of Trustees, he was the president of Aetna’s Institute for Corporate Education, which was an early effort at corporate training, not only for employment skills, but for diversity, treating others with dignity, and advancement. He moved through various non-profit positions, eventually serving as president and CEO of the Phelps-Stokes Fund, the oldest continuously operating foundation serving the educational needs of African Americans, Native Americans, Africans, and the rural and urban poor.
Badi was a truly visionary force, not only in his field, but in the early shaping of our family of mutual funds. We offer our sympathy to his family and gratitude for his life.
