Two goals. One set of standards.

At Domini, universal human dignity and ecological sustainability are our goals. Standards are the path we take to achieve them. Our social and environmental standards help us identify strong, long-term investments across both our equity and fixed-income strategies.

Our Impact Investment Standards
have two fundamental goals:

Universal Human Dignity
We seek investments that promote universal values of fairness, equality, justice, and respect for human rights.

Ecological Sustainability
We seek investments that promote long-term environmental sustainability, including climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Domini and the UN SDGs

Each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are reflected in our Impact Investment Standards, which were first published in 2005. Through the application of our standards, we believe we can build SDG-aligned portfolios that support the strength and resiliency of our social, environmental and financial systems.

Exclusionary Screens

We believe certain lines of business are fundamentally misaligned with our goals of universal human dignity and ecological sustainability. The capital markets are highly effective mechanisms for raising funds for a wide variety of products and services, but we do not want to invest in products that have the potential to cause incalculable harm.

Applying Our Standards

We evaluate companies on two levels: the degree to which their businesses are aligned with our goals of universal human dignity and ecological sustainability, and the strength of their stakeholder relations. We seek to invest in business models that create solutions for social and environmental challenges and provide access to the underserved.

Fixed-income investments are particularly well suited for addressing a wide range of economic disparities in our society. For non-corporate fixed-income, we look to address a broad range of issues, including affordable housing, education, economic development, health care, and the environment.
